I think one's feelings waste themselves in words; they ought all to be distilled into actions which bring results.

Saving Lives Through Fostering Partnerships
For years, Nashville PITTIE has aimed to restore and bring light to the true character of the Pit Bull. Thanks to Metro Animal Care and Control's (MACC) new policy, our community is getting a chance to embrace the true, loving, loyal nature this breed has been known for, for many generations before us.

MACC has made a number of changes over the last 6 months to help improve adoption rates. Changes include using Petfinder to increase promotion of animals available for adoption, discounting adoption fees, establishing formal partnerships with rescue organizations, and one of our proudest to see, lifting the breed ban! Since this past summer, MACC has begun offering puppies and adult dogs based on temperament, behavior, and health, rather than breed specific.

Although this has done WONDERS for our pit bull type dogs; truth is there are still more pups looking for families, than families going to the shelter to adopt. Nashville PITTIE would love to do our part by pulling from MACC; this frees up a space, giving another at the shelter a chance. It also gives the one we pull more time and attention until they find their forever home. But, because we have no physical shelter, we solely rely on our dedicated fosters to help us rescue as many lives as we can, until we place them into forever loving homes!

Foster families are the bridge that can transport a pup from an uncertain future, to the life all pups deserve, as a beloved family companion! Remember, by committing to foster, you are not only saving the life of one sweet soul, but two; by freeing a spot so another can be saved. The more foster homes we have, the more lives saved.

As a foster not only will you be providing a pet with the one on one attention it so desperately needs, you will be giving yourself a chance to see what it would be like to have a pet companion without the permanent commitment. By opening your home to foster you help us learn their personalities, help them become more socialized to different pets and types of people, ultimately leading us to finding them the best home possible!

You are their stepping-stone to a brighter future. A life saved, a fate forever changed, thanks to you! If you have a little extra space, and a lot of love to give, please consider opening your heart and home to a foster? By working together, we can help make all the difference!
